Saim Ayub has been ruled out of the remainder of the Cape Town Test
Pakistan opener Saim Ayub has been ruled out of the remainder of the Cape Town Test against South Africa after sustaining an ankle injury.
When Ryan Rickleton edged a delivery through the slips in the seventh over of the game, Ayub hurt himself. He and Aamer Jamal then started a pursuit through deep third. Ayub lost his footing and hurt his ankle while attempting to apply the brakes as a relay fielder after Jamal retrieved the ball back.
Before being carried off the pitch on a stretcher, he writhed in agony and was cared to by physiotherapists right away. He was then taken for scans, which showed the extent of his damage. "Saim Ayub has been ruled out of further participation in the second men's cricket Test against South Africa after twisting his right ankle while fielding," read a statement from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). "Saim underwent X-rays and MRI tests this afternoon and the reports have been sent to specialists in London for further advice on the treatment and time away from competitive cricket."
