Aston Martin rejects $2 billion Verstappen deal

Aston Martin has rejected a report claiming four-time world champion Max Verstappen is set to join the team.

The Silverstone-based team is reportedly presenting a proposal to sponsors that involves Verstappen racing for the company, according to reports in the British press. According to the Daily Mail, Jefferson Slack, the team's director of marketing and commercial, has used the Dutchman's name as a bait while negotiating with possible new partners.

The billionaire Lawrence Stroll, the CEO of Aston Martin, spearheaded a group of investors in 2018 to save the Force India organisation. After that, the team changed its name to Racing Point. Later, Stroll became interested in the Aston Martin road car business, which led to the F1 team being named after it. Since then, substantial investments have been made, including the construction of a new wind tunnel and an outstanding, spacious plant. Adrian Newey, a design great who spent over 20 years at Red Bull, will join the team in March 2025, it was reported last year.
