Bayern Munich defeated 10-man Bayer Leverkusen 3-0
Kane converted his 30th consecutive penalty since his miss for England against France in the 2022 World Cup, placing Bayern on course for a victory.
On Wednesday, Bayern Munich defeated 10-man Bayer Leverkusen 3-0 at home thanks to two goals from Harry Kane, putting them on pace to advance to the Champions League quarterfinals. At the Allianz Arena, Bayern dominated the first leg of their last-16 match against the German champions, Leverkusen, who they haven't defeated in six attempts since Xabi Alonso took over in October 2022.
After nine minutes, Kane headed in a beautiful cross from Michael Olise. Early in the second half, Matej Kovar, the regular backup to Leverkusen captain Lukas Hradecky, made a goalkeeping gaffe that Jamal Musiala was well positioned to take advantage of. A tame Joshua Kimmich cross slipped between Kovar's fingertips as he soared high but not high enough. A thankful Musiala tapped home as the ball landed at his feet.
