Chopra Backs Sundar Over Kuldeep for CT Final
Ahead of Champions Trophy final, Chopra reckons that Washington Sundar could be better against New Zealand than Kuldeep Yadav
Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra suggested that India could replace Kuldeep Yadav with Washington Sundar in the Champions Trophy final against New Zealand. Rohit Sharma’s team will face the Kiwis on Sunday at 2:30 PM in Dubai. On his YouTube channel, Chopra explained that Sundar was included as an off-spinner to counter New Zealand’s left-handed batters. He highlighted that the Tamil Nadu all-rounder previously excelled against New Zealand in a home Test series.
“Sundar was picked for off-spin variation, crucial against teams with many left-handers like New Zealand. He has already performed well against them,” Chopra stated. Kuldeep has played every match in CT 2025, taking five wickets but proving expensive. Sundar, meanwhile, has remained on the bench. Chopra believes a tactical change could see Sundar replace Kuldeep.
