Sri Lanka’s Vishwa Fernando Joins Warwickshire for County Championship Stint
Left-arm seamer will be available for three first-class matches in April
Sri Lanka’s left-arm seamer Vishwa Fernando has signed with Warwickshire for the start of their County Championship campaign. The 79-Test wicket pacer will be available for Division One matches in April. Fernando impressed last summer with Yorkshire, claiming 17 wickets in three games, including a nine-wicket haul against Derbyshire. He also played a key role in Sri Lanka’s Test victory at The Oval against England.
Set to debut against Sussex on April 4, Fernando will also feature against former club Durham and Nottinghamshire. Expressing his excitement, he said, “Playing county cricket has been hugely enjoyable over the last two years.” His signing bolsters Warwickshire’s squad, alongside Pakistan’s Hasan Ali, Australia’s Beau Webster, New Zealand’s Tom Latham, and former Middlesex pacer Ethan Bamber.
