Valtteri Bottas threatens to quit Sauber
Valtteri Bottas threatens to quit Sauber if they don’t make a decision on his future with the team soon as the Finn grows tired of waiting for Mattia Binotto to pick who he wants
Valtteri Bottas has issued a firm ultimatum to Sauber, demanding clarity on his future with the team as he grows frustrated with the prolonged decision-making process about the 2025 Formula 1 lineup. With Sauber’s rebrand to Audi set for 2026, Bottas, who’s had a strong 2024 season, is keen to know whether he’ll be racing alongside Nico Hulkenberg next year.
This season, the 35-year-old Finn has showcased his talent, consistently outperforming teammate Zhou Guanyu in qualifying, achieving a 19-1 record. His qualifying prowess has even seen him outpace top drivers like Lewis Hamilton, Oscar Piastri, and Sergio Perez in one-lap runs, with a recent standout performance at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez. Amidst speculation, a long list of drivers, including Gabriel Bortoleto, Franco Colapinto, Mick Schumacher, and Sergio Perez, have been linked to Sauber’s vacant seat.
