Sebastien Buemi might rejoin Formula 1
Red Bull has dropped several drivers over the years, but one name has stuck with the outfit even after losing his F1 seat over a decade ago.
Sebastien Buemi, a Red Bull simulator driver, has disclosed that he had an offer to rejoin Formula 1. From 2009 to 2011, Buemi was a member of the Red Bull sister team. Daniel Ricciardo and Jean-Eric Vergne took the role of Swiss driver and teammate Jaime Alguersuari.
Buemi started up with Red Bull as its backup driver even though he lost his F1 seat and never made it back to the grid. Buemi has just been off Red Bull's reserve driver list since 2023, but he still plays a vital role for the team on race weekends. Christian Horner, the team's principal, gave Buemi a lot of credit for his efforts in the simulator last year. He also told RacingNews365 that he has been helping the team with their 2026 vehicle. Alongside his behind-the-scenes role at Red Bull, Buemi has been competing in the World Endurance Championship and Formula E, becoming champion in both.
