Fernando Alonso has withdrawn from Mexican Grand Prix due to illness
Fernando Alonso has withdrawn from Thursday’s scheduled media duties at the Mexican Grand Prix due to illness, Aston Martin has confirmed.
Fernando Alonso withdrew from the scheduled media duties for the Mexican Grand Prix on Thursday due to illness, as confirmed by Aston Martin. The two-time World Champion is prioritizing rest and recovery to be ready for Friday’s opening sessions at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez. Aston Martin had already planned for reserve driver Felipe Drugovich to replace Alonso in Friday's FP1, fulfilling the team’s mandate to allow a rookie to participate in two practice sessions during the season. This arrangement will grant Alonso additional time to recuperate before aiming to return for FP2 later in the day.
Aston Martin issued a statement saying, “Fernando Alonso is feeling unwell and will therefore not attend media day at the Mexico City Grand Prix. Fernando is focused on feeling 100% for Friday and his planned return to the AMR24 for Free Practice 2.”
