Liverpool beat PSG 1-0
Liverpool completed one of the biggest smash and grabs in Champions League history to come away from their last-16 first leg against Paris St-Germain with a win.
With 27 shots, PSG dominated the match, forcing Liverpool goalie Alisson to make nine saves. However, the Reds scored with their second attempt of the evening in the 87th minute after the hosts were unable to come up with an opening goal. Darwin Nunez picked out Harvey Elliott, who replaced Mohamed Salah and scored with his first touch. The reason why Luis Enrique's team was unable to score will remain a mystery. A mystery in the shape of Alisson, that is.
At times, PSG attackers Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Ousmane Dembele in particular were unplayable. The visual assistant referee (VAR) correctly rejected Kvaratskhelia's superb goal for offside in the first half. The VAR again sided with Liverpool, more controversially, when Ibrahima Konate avoided a red card despite shoving Bradley Barcola over just outside the box.
