Coby White and Jalen Smith each scored 15 points for the Bulls, while Nikola Vučević finished with 23 points and 13 rebounds. On January 1, Chicago evened a 125-107 defeat to the Wizards and recorded its fifth victory in seven games.

Chicago took control with to LaVine's 18 points in the first half. Jordan Poole led the Wizards with 22 points after missing three games in a row due to a left hip injury. With 18 more points from Jared Butler, Washington fell to an NBA-worst 6-30. The Bulls gave their opponents the first basket, but a few plays later, they seized the lead for good. Midway through the third quarter, they went on a 9-0 run to convert the game into a blowout, leading 68-58 at the break.
