The Aussies reportedly view Head as an opener
The Aussies reportedly view Head as an opener on the subcontinent - and it could mean bad news for Konstas.
According to reports, Australia's Test selectors are thinking about starting Travis Head in the forthcoming matches against Sri Lanka, which might be bad news for teenage sensation Sam Konstas. The Australians believe that Head's best position on spinning surfaces is to open the batting, and he is reportedly eager to do so in the Test matches on January 29 and February 6.
Head's use of spin on turning pitches, especially in the early stages of his innings, has raised concerns among selectors. He hasn't had much success in his career and is instantly faced with spin spinners when batting at No. 5 in India and Sri Lanka. Head batted at number five during Australia's last tour of Sri Lanka in 2022, which ended in a 1-1 draw. He scored six, twelve, and five runs.
