Williams could be forced to miss the 2024 Las Vegas GP as the team struggles to find the parts needed for Alex Albon and Franco Colapinto’s cars
Following a string of collisions at the Mexico GP and Brazilian GP in Formula 1's triple header, the team is having trouble finding the parts needed for Alex Albon and Franco Colapinto's cars, which may force Williams to miss the 2024 Las Vegas GP.
Before adding a massive shunt in Sao Paulo during qualifying that guaranteed he couldn't compete in the race, Albon hit the barriers at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez twice, once in FP1 and again on Lap 1 of the Grand Prix. To make sure his afternoon was over, Colapinto also hit the wall during qualifying at the Autodromo Jose Carlos Pace (Interlagos) before adding a big collision on Lap 32 under safety car conditions. Despite the British racing team's reputation for having a tight budget, James Vowles stated that no other competitor on the grid could withstand the knock, indicating that the damage has gone beyond financial allocations and is now just a matter of logistics.
