The Kick Sauber F1 team is set to compete under a new name

The Kick Sauber F1 team is set to compete under a new name at Zandvoort after Dutch officials have banned the Stake F1 Team from using its branding at this weekend's Zandvoort race.

The Kick Sauber F1 team will race under a new name at the Dutch Grand Prix in Zandvoort after Dutch authorities banned the use of their usual branding. Sauber, which rebranded as Stake F1 Team Kick Sauber for the 2024 Formula 1 season following Alfa Romeo’s departure as title sponsor, will not display Stake's logos at the upcoming race due to regulatory issues.

Although betting advertising is permitted in the Netherlands, the Australian-Curaçaoan online casino Stake lacks the necessary license from the Kansspelautoriteit (Ksa), the Dutch Gaming Authority, to operate in the country. As a result, the Ksa has prohibited both the team and Formula 1 from showcasing Stake’s branding during the event. The restriction highlights a significant clash between local gambling regulations and global sponsorship agreements. Sauber is expected to race under an alternative name for the Zandvoort race, adhering to Dutch regulations, while the team will continue under the Stake banner elsewhere.
