Las Palmas overcame a deficit to tie with Osasuna 1-1
A point apiece means Osasuna, which hasn’t won a league match since Nov. 2, climbed one place to ninth, while Las Palmas remained 14th.
On Friday, 10-man Las Palmas overcame a deficit to tie with Osasuna 1-1 in La Liga thanks to a spectacular injury-time free kick from former Manchester United winger Adnan Januzaj. The first league victory for visiting Osasuna since early November was denied by Januzaj's goal in the eighth minute of extra time.
Eight minutes into the second half, Osasuna took the lead thanks to a penalty kick from Aimar Oroz in a packed penalty box. However, when his late free kick deflected and slid into the empty net, Januzaj, the Belgian winger on loan from Sevilla, electrified the home crowd. Given that Las Palmas played the last quarter of the match with 10 men after midfielder Dário Essugo was sent off, the comeback was all the more unexpected. Essugo was shown again seconds later for protesting after receiving a severe yellow card for an innocent challenge in the 72nd.
