Athletic Club draw 2-2 at mid-table Real Betis
Fourth-placed Athletic Club’s unbeaten run in LaLiga stretched to 13 matches as they twice came from behind to draw 2-2 at mid-table Real Betis.
The game started off quite quickly, but neither team scored until the eleventh minute, when Jesus Rodriguez, a youngster for Betis, shot tamely at Unai Simon after having the opportunity to slide in Cedric Bakambu, who had started the offensive and won the game the previous weekend against Mallorca.
Simón was only able to parry the ball out to Isco, who tucked it in, but the hosts took the lead immediately after that opportunity when a quick play upfield saw rookie and Manchester United exile Antony cutting onto his left foot and hitting low. At the other end, Alex Berenguer’s weak strike was easily gathered by Adrian, but after Bakambu spurned a big opportunity of his own having been found by Isco, Berenguer made amends, playing a major role in a bizarre goal.
