After excellent work from Ademola Lookman, Davide Zappacosta came closest to ending the draw five minutes before halftime when he clipped the outside of the post. After being held to a goalless draw by lowly Venezia on Saturday, Atalanta lost the opportunity to tie Inter Milan for first place in Serie A. After failing to win at home for the fifth consecutive time in this season in Italy's top division, sluggish Atalanta remains in third place, two points behind champions Inter, who took on championship rivals Napoli. 

The fact that Gian Piero Gasperini's team hasn't triumphed in domestic competition in front of their own supporters since the beginning of the year is working against them in their historic attempt to win the Scudetto. Venezia's attempt to stay in the top league is somewhat bolstered by a surprise point, although Eusebio Di Francesco's squad is five points ahead of Parma, who are just outside the relegation zone and play Udinese on Saturday.
