In preparation for Wednesday's Coppa Italia quarterfinal matchup against Roma, Sergio Conceicao welcomed Matteo Gabbia back to his first team group during training on Tuesday. However, one of the club's January acquisitions won't be healthy enough to play against Claudio Ranieri's Giallorossi. In the last round of Champions League league phase matches, Gabbia was substituted off at halftime due to what was subsequently determined to be a minor muscle injury during the team's 2-1 loss to Dinamo Zagreb.
He was only able to play the last five minutes of the Derby della Madonnina against Inter, which finished in a 1-1 tie over the weekend, as a result of that setback. Milan had a very busy end to the January transfer market, officially adding Santiago Gimenez, Joao Felix, Riccardo Sottil and Warren Bondo to their ranks on the final day of the window.
