While the English Premier League team signed French midfielder Mathis Amougou from Saint-Etienne on an eight-year contract, AC Milan signed Portuguese striker Joao Felix from Chelsea on loan for the remainder of the current campaign. According to British media, Amougou, 19, paid over $24 million (£12 million) to join Chelsea.

The 25-year-old Felix reportedly paid $92 million (£46 million) to join Chelsea from Atletico Madrid in August for a seven-year contract, although he has battled for playing time during his second stint with the Premier League team. Felix scored his sole league goal this season in his club debut against Wolverhampton Wanderers, however he has only started three league games since joining Chelsea. Felix will collaborate with Sergio Conceicao, a Portuguese coach, at Milan. Amougou, a 2021 youth acquisition for Saint-Etienne, has made 17 league appearances for the recently promoted team this season.
