Frankfurt defeats Borussia Dortmund, 2-0
Due to the outcome, Borussia Dortmund has only won once in their previous six games and lost three of their last three.
Inflicting further suffering on the struggling visitors, Eintracht Frankfurt defeated Borussia Dortmund 2-0 at home on Friday, overcoming the impending departure of in-form Omar Marmoush. Frankfurt was cool and collected, removing Manchester City target Marmoush from the matchday roster only hours before kickoff. Hugo Ekitike, a striker, gave Frankfurt the lead early on, and despite controlling the ball, Dortmund had few clear opportunities.
Oscar Hojlund exploited a midfield error by Dortmund in stoppage time to gain control, sprint 40 meters, and slip the ball past a defenseless Gregor Kobel. Depending on the outcome this weekend, Dortmund might drop as low as 11th place. They are now 11 points behind Frankfurt, who are headed for their first top-four finish in thirty years. League leaders Bayern Munich will host Wolfsburg on Saturday. Borussia Moenchengladbach will host defending champions Bayer Leverkusen, who are now four points behind in second place.
