10-man Mainz surprises Eintracht Frankfurt 3-1
On Saturday, Brazilian goalie Kauã Santos had a memorable game when his team, Eintracht Frankfurt, lost 3-1 to 10-man Mainz in the Bundesliga.
After captain Nadiem Amiri was sent off for catching Ellyes Skhiri's right ankle with his studs in the 21st minute, Eintracht Frankfurt had 34 shots at goal compared to nine by the visiting team.
An unlucky own goal had already been given by Kauã Santos. Two Mainz players quickly put pressure on Skhiri as the goalie sent out a brief pass to him. Santos diverted the ball against the crossbar after Skhiri sent it bouncing back toward him. The ball then bounced off Santos' arm and in. Santos was again at fault when a mishandled pass allowed another Mainz assault, and Paul Nebel of Mainz subsequently scored with a deflected shot to make it 2-0. In the 58th minute, Nebel scored his second goal. In the 75th minute, Frankfurt's consolation goal was scored by Rasmus Kristensen, who had hit the crossbar in the first half.
