The record-breaking undefeated streak places Les Dogues in third position
Following AS Monaco's defeat against Montpellier HSC earlier this evening, third place was up for grabs for Lille OSC and OGC Nice.
Despite Nice's strong performance and early lead when Sofiane Diop started the score, the home team emerged victorious in a crucial 2-1 triumph. In the third minute, Gaëtan Laborde's feint in the box sent Thomas Meunier in the wrong direction and created a pocket of space for him to shoot at Lucas Chevalier, giving the visitors the lead.
Nice opened the score with Jonathan Clauss's cross, which found its way to Diop. The assailant fired home past Chevalier. After the score, Lille got better, but Tanguy Ndombele's grab on a corner nearly gave Nice a two-goal just before halftime. The former Napoli player struck the crossbar after misfiring at point-blank range. Lille would seize control of the match in the sixty-third minute. With a regrettable deflection of Clauss close to the back post, Mitchel Bakker's corner made its way to Bafodé Diakité who was near the post and he hammered it in to give Lille a lead.
