Lille suffered more humiliation after dropping from the French Cup race

Issa Soumare and Kouka scored two goals for Le Havre to overpower Lille 2-1.

Lille finished a week to remember with a 2-1 loss at home to last-place Le Havre in the French league, four days after their humbling French Cup departure. Senegalese striker Issa Soumare and Egypt forward Kouka both scored a goal in the first half to help Le Havre snap their nine-game losing streak in all competitions and move up off the bottom of the league until at least Sunday, when struggling Montpellier comes to Strasbourg.

In the seventh minute of stoppage time, Lille replacement Chuba Akpom scored his first league goal, but the home club was unable to capitalize. In the Champions League, Lille has surpassed expectations by defeating Feyenoord 6-1 last week to earn a spot in the knockout stage. However, the squad lost the penalty shootout after wasting a 2-0 lead against Dunkerque, a team in the second division, in the French Cup on Tuesday. Following their fourth loss of the season, Lille fell to fifth place in the French league on Saturday.
