After acquiring Federico Chiesa this summer, Liverpool's interest in Newcastle winger Anthony Gordon has considerably decreased. Gordon was once thought of by the Reds as a possible addition to their assault unit. But with Chiesa back in the lineup, Liverpool's offensive alternatives have improved enough to negate Gordon's necessity. Liverpool's offensive depth has increased enough that they can now compete at the top level without having to pay a premium of £75 million for the Newcastle winger. 

Gordon's future on the other hand has been swiftly secured by Newcastle, who have started contract negotiations. Newcastle is optimistic that by offering Gordon a substantial salary increase, they may get a new contract that will put him in line with the club's highest-paid players, like Sandro Tonali, Alexander Isak, and Bruno Guimarães.
