Liverpool’s 2-2 draw at Aston Villa
Mohamed Salah scored one goal and set up the equalizer by Trent Alexander-Arnold in Liverpool’s 2-2 draw at Aston Villa that stretched its lead in the Premier League to eight points on Wednesday.
In Wednesday's 2-2 draw with Aston Villa, Liverpool extended their lead in the Premier League to eight points thanks to a goal from Mohamed Salah and an assist from Trent Alexander-Arnold. Salah put Liverpool ahead at Villa Park in the 29th minute with his league-leading 24th goal of the season, but Youri Tielemans' volley and Ollie Watkins' header caused the leaders to trail at halftime.
As Liverpool salvaged a point from a close game, Alexander-Arnold sprinted onto an inside cross from Salah and smashed in a shot that deflected past Villa goalkeeper Emi Martinez in the 61st minute, preventing what would have been just their second league loss of the year. It remains to be seen whether this was a good point for Liverpool in one of the toughest away fixtures in the league or two more dropped points, a week after a 2-2 draw at local rival Everton.
