General Motors ready to enter the race in 2026
In 2026, General Motors will introduce Cadillac as the eleventh team on the Formula One grid.
The owners of Formula One have confirmed that American automaker Cadillac will be the eleventh team on the grid in 2026. Formula 1 and General Motors (GM), the company that controls Cadillac, have come to "an agreement in principle" to allow the team entry into the paddock. The permission had been in the process for weeks, but it was postponed until after the Las Vegas Grand Prix last weekend so as not to interfere with Liberty Media’s flagship event. The race on Saturday night, the third and last leg in the United States for the world's premier racing series, saw Max Verstappen win his fourth straight title.
Although California industrialist Gene Haas owns the lone American team on the current Formula One grid, it is not very competitive and does not field American drivers. Now GM will have a chance to form an American squad.
