Erik ten Hag was fired after the Red Devils had their worst start to a season for the second consecutive year. Ruben Amorim will now spearhead the team into a new era. Because of his stellar record with Sporting CP, there is some hope for what the dynamic manager may do at Old Trafford in the upcoming years. 

He must first restore the team to its peak, particularly Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee, who are supposed to be the backbone of his attack but are both being outscored by a player Ten Hag sold in the summer. United decided to pay about £36.5 million for Zirkzee, Bologna's young center-forward, in the summer in an attempt to add more goals to the squad. Although that is by no means a modest amount, at the time it seemed like good value because the Dutchman scored 12 goals and supplied seven assists in 37 games for the Italian team.
