Lonnie Walker IV, the best free agency wing, was signed by the Philadelphia 76ers as a post-trade deadline move. Walker passed on many other options in favour of Philadelphia, where he had until today to sign an NBA deal.
Walker first joined the Boston Celtics' training camp roster before travelling abroad to compete in the EuroLeague to further establish himself. Walker joined Lithuania's BC Zalgiris, but his buyout to go in the middle of the season only cost $450,000, which is a negligible sum for any American team that could be interested. In 19 games this season for Zalgaris, Walker averaged 13.6 points, 3.2 rebounds and 1.8 assists while shooting 38.7% overall. While inefficient, Walker regularly displayed his freakish athleticism on both ends of the court.
