Lazio registered their tenth victory

Lazio registered their tenth victory in their 11 fixtures in all competitions after edging past their hosts Monza thanks to Mattia Zaccagni’s solitary strike.

Instead of sticking with his tried-and-true 4-2-3-1 style, Marco Baroni opted for a 4-3-3 system with Boulaye Dia at the centre, Pedro and Zaccagni on each side, and Matias Vecino as an additional midfielder beside Matteo Guendouzi and Nicolo Rovella.

Early on, the two teams exchanged barbs, but the Biancocelesti were the more formidable. However, Nuno Tavares' feeding of Zaccagni inside the box in the 33rd minute was the first significant event. The post stopped the Lazio captain's attempt to cut to the right and go for the bottom corner. However, a few minutes later, Zaccagni exacted revenge. Guendouzi passed the ball to his captain on the left after driving it forward. Even though he still had a lot of work to do, the winger cut inside, created a shooting angle on the box's edge, and sent a fantastic curler that left Stefano Turati stranded.
