Wasteful Manchester City draws with Brentford
Brentford took advantage of Manchester City’s weak defense.
Manchester City wasted a two-goal lead to draw 2-2 at Brentford, displaying even more late-game vulnerability. City winger Savinho almost broke the tie in the 50th minute after failing to generate any opportunities in the first half. He raced forward through the left channel and then hammered a shot off the foot of the post.
Erling Haaland of City could have scored two minutes later, but instead, he headed straight at the goalie. Kevin De Bruyne's excellent pass from the right was met by Foden, who skillfully volleyed it in at the far post to give City their first goal in the 66th minute. Phil Foden scored twice for the faltering champions, who are fighting just to make it into the Champions League this season, but City lost in the 82nd minute and again two minutes into stoppage time. Brentford left City in sixth position thanks to goals from Christian Norgaard and Yoane Wissa.
