South Africa beats Afghanistan in Champions Trophy opener

In their Champions Trophy victory over Afghanistan in Karachi, South Africa achieved a unique fifty-plus quadruple.

Four players in South Africa's innings scored half-centuries, which is uncommon in the history of the Champions Trophy. At the National Bank Stadium in Karachi, South Africa won their tournament opener with a score of 315-6 after choosing to bat first. The batting attack was led by Ryan Rickelton's vain first century. Rickelton scored 103 off 106 balls while riding seven fours and a six after smashing a career-best 259 in Test matches last month.

Rassie van der Dussen (52 off 46) and captain Temba Bavuma (58 off 76) both made significant contributions. Last but not least, Aiden Markram's scorching fifty gave the innings a final boost. The fastest of the day, Markram reached his milestone in 33 balls. He hit six fours and a six to finish undefeated at 52 off 36.
