Known for his extravagant knocks for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), De Villiers’ IPL career is often compared to India's Suryakumar Yadav. Former India batter Sanjay Manjrekar recently claimed Suryakumar has surpassed De Villiers in terms of T20 match-winning impact. Speaking on Star Sports, Manjrekar remarked that De Villiers was underutilized in the IPL and played for the "wrong franchise," which limited his true potential.

 “AB was incredible, but in T20s, we didn’t see his full greatness. If he played for another franchise and batted higher, we could’ve seen more of his brilliance,” said Manjrekar, making a bold comparison between the two players.
