BBL's Hurricanes end Renegades' aspirations of making it to the finals

Hobarts are at the top of the standings with two games remaining.

In a pivotal BBL victory over the Melbourne Renegades, the Hobart Hurricanes' veterans Tim David and Matthew Wade's powerful hitting changed the game. But with opening bowler Billy Stanlake hurting his shoulder only six days before the finals, Tuesday night's four-wicket victory at home with two balls remaining might come at a steep price.

The victory eliminates the Renegades' faint prospects of making the finals and puts Hobart atop the standings with two games remaining. The Hurricanes will be making their first trip to the championships in three seasons. After yet another top-order collapse, Melbourne put up a strong fight, but 7-154 was insufficient. Nikhil Chaudhary's 36 steadied the Hobarts after they hobbled to 4-66 at 10 overs. Wade then hammered 36 off 23 balls with five fours and one six, setting up the nail-biting last over where they needed eight more runs. The game was then won by David's single. In Hobart's 6-155, he smashed an undefeated 24 off 15 balls, which included two fours and a six.
