Valencia dramatic 3-3 draw with Osasuna
Valencia’s struggles on the road continued, but Umar Sadiq’s brilliance saved them from defeat in a thrilling 3-3 draw against Osasuna at El Sadar.
In a dramatic 3-3 draw with Osasuna at El Sadar, Valencia's road woes persisted, but Umar Sadiq's genius kept them from losing. Sadiq's late backheeled goal in the closing seconds of the game gave Valencia a point even though they were behind 3-2 at the half following a disorganised defensive effort. Coach Carlos Corberán has a lot of work ahead of next Saturday's pivotal home match against the bottom-placed team at Mestalla, though, as the draw did little to help them escape the relegation zone.
Valencia came into the game with the intention of ending their recent bad performance. Javi Guerra and Enzo Barrenechea had early shots that demonstrated their purpose, particularly Barrenechea's close-range attempt that came close to missing. Osasuna swiftly recovered control, though, and Diego López, Valencia's goalie, had an unexpected flash of genius. Following a well-timed offside trap, López found himself one-on-one with Sergio Herrera, the custodian for Osasuna.
