Batting first after winning the toss, Sri Lanka posted 248 runs for the loss of 7 wickets. Avishka Fernando was the standout performer, scoring an impressive 96 runs. He formed a solid opening partnership of 86 runs with Pathum Nissanka before falling short of a century, dismissed by debutant Riyan Parag.

Despite skipper Charith Asalanka's early dismissal for 10 runs, Kusal Mendis contributed a crucial half-century, helping Sri Lanka past 200 runs. In response, India struggled, getting bowled out for a mere 138 runs in 26.1 overs. Dunith Wellalage was the star with the ball for Sri Lanka, taking a remarkable five-wicket haul, while Parag ended with three wickets. Kamindu Mendis and Maheesh Theekshana remained unbeaten at the close of the innings.
