Shan Masood Defends Spin-Friendly Pitch After Historic Test Win
Pakistan captain says batters "have sacrificed individual milestones for team results", while seamers could have chance to shine when subcontinent teams visit
Pakistan captain Shan Masood defended the decision to produce a spin-friendly pitch after Pakistan's 127-run victory in the shortest-ever Test to yield a result on home soil. Addressing concerns about the dry, brittle surface, Masood emphasized the necessity of adapting to win."We will do what we need to take 20 wickets and win," Masood stated. "These aren't conditions we play on in domestic cricket either. It's new for us, but we changed during the England series to secure victories. Credit goes to our bowlers for consistently taking 20 wickets."
The approach has paid off since Pakistan’s loss to England on a flat pitch in October. A strategic shift has been made to favor spin as their primary weapon, ensuring favorable results on home turf.
