Cameron Green's bid for a Test return faces another setback, with reports suggesting he won’t be cleared for Sheffield Shield action before heading to England for county cricket.
Cameron Green's bid for a Test return faces another setback, with reports suggesting he won’t be cleared for Sheffield Shield action before heading to England for county cricket. Meanwhile, Marnus Labuschagne’s poor form has sparked calls for his exclusion from Australia’s red-ball side ahead of June’s World Test Championship (WTC) final against South Africa at Lord’s.
Labuschagne, Australia’s No.3, has struggled over the past two years, averaging just 25.36 this summer after underwhelming performances against India and Sri Lanka. His previous season was equally disappointing, with an average of 27.08 in 2023/24. Green is among the contenders to replace him if selectors opt for change. And Green would have been hoping to push his case for a recall to Australia's Test side with Western Australia in the Sheffield Shield after being sidelined since last year with injury.
