Bayern Munich defeated Borussia Mönchengladbach 1-0
Harry Kane scores a penalty to give Bayern Munich all three points from their meeting with Mönchengladbach.
In order to break the tie and secure his 15th league goal of the season, the England captain, Harry Kane sent Gladbach keeper Moritz Nicolas the wrong way in the 68th minute, securing his place as the Bundesliga's top scorer. In their first Bundesliga game following the winter break, Bayern Munich defeated Borussia Mönchengladbach 1-0 thanks to a penalty kick from Harry Kane, moving them four points clear of second-place Bayer Leverkusen.
In the first half, Bayern held 70% of the ball and controlled the game, but they had trouble turning that possession into goals despite coming near through Thomas Müller and Leon Goretzka. After Friday's 3-2 victory against Borussia Dortmund, the Bavarians, who had many further scoring opportunities following Kane's penalty, are leading the league with 39 points, while champions Leverkusen are in second position with 35.
