Udinese secured a much-needed victory on Monday, defeating Monza 2-1

Udinese won for the first time since October on Monday, 2-1 over lowly Monza to end a five-game winless run and move into ninth spot in Serie A.

Udinese secured a much-needed victory on Monday, defeating Monza 2-1 to end a five-game winless streak and climb to ninth place in Serie A. This marked their first win since October 25, a drought that had seen them lose momentum in the league. Lorenzo Lucca got Udinese off to a strong start with an early goal in the sixth minute, showcasing sharp finishing skills. However, Monza responded early in the second half with a well-taken equalizer by Greek defender Giorgos Kyriakopoulos.

Despite Monza dominating possession and creating numerous opportunities, especially in the first half, Udinese capitalized on their chances. Slovenian defender Jaka Bijol emerged as the hero, scoring the decisive goal in the 70th minute. The result was particularly harsh on Monza, whose struggles continue with an eighth consecutive winless outing. Their poor form is compounded by a lack of firepower, with only one team in the league scoring fewer goals.
