Memphis Grizzlies 129-115 victory over the San Antonio Spurs
Wembanyama blocked Edey’s dunk attempt with nine seconds remaining in the first quarter and then blocked Aldama’s follow on the same possession.
Ja Morant recorded 21 points and 12 assists, leading the Memphis Grizzlies to a 129-115 victory over the San Antonio Spurs on Wednesday night. Desmond Bane added 21 points, Santi Aldama scored 20, and Jaren Jackson Jr. contributed 19 as Memphis broke out of a slump, having lost four of its last six games. The Grizzlies aggressively challenged Spurs rookie Victor Wembanyama early, with Morant hitting a one-handed floater over the 7-foot-3 center for the game’s opening basket. Although Morant later soared for a one-handed dunk over Wembanyama, it was waved off due to a referee’s whistle.
Grizzlies rookie Zach Edey also impressed, scoring over Wembanyama with a hook shot and a powerful dunk. Spurs rookie Stephon Castle had a season-high 26 points, while Wembanyama finished with 13 points, 12 rebounds, and eight blocks—all in the first half. Memphis dominated the second half, outscoring San Antonio 78-52.
