Atletico Madrid barely defeated Osasuna 1-0
Atletico Madrid continued their quest for the LaLiga title by edging past Osasuna, with Julian Alvarez continuing his fine form this term.
After Atletico Madrid barely defeated Osasuna at the Metropolitano on Sunday, Julian Alvarez's goal in the second half sent them to the top of La Liga. Osasuna has now gone seven league games without a victory, while Atletico has already won a club-record 14 straight games in all competitions.
Neither team had many clear-cut opportunities in the first half, but Alvarez put all three of his team's shots on goal in the opening forty-five minutes. In the 55th minute, the Argentine scored his 13th goal for Atletico in all competitions, giving Diego Simeone's team the lead. Antoine Griezmann found Clement Lenglet at the back post after a quick corner routine, and the French defender then steered the ball into Alvarez's path to finish. It took the hosts until the 90th minute to register their next shot on target, but Angel Correa saw his strike comfortably saved by visiting goalkeeper Sergio Herrera.
